A Place for Healing: The Story of Nate and Greg

About three years ago, two young brothers, Nate and Greg, were abandoned in a hospital cafeteria. Non-verbal, not yet potty trained, and deeply affected by trauma, the boys communicated their pain through physical aggression. When a call went out to Boys Town seeking placement, the severity of their behaviors led to a request for two separate foster homes.

But the Wyatt family -- Mark and Amy -- said yes to both.

These incredible Foster Parents couldn’t bear to see the brothers separated after such a heartbreaking start. With unwavering compassion, they welcomed Nate and Greg into their home together.

Boys Town immediately surrounded the Wyatt family with support: crisis intervention, ongoing training and weekly consultations to ensure they had the tools and guidance needed to help the boys heal.

Over the next two and a half years, despite the many challenges that came with caring for two deeply traumatized children, Mark and Amy remained devoted. They showed Nate and Greg what it means to be loved, respected and part of a family.

Eventually, an adoptive home was found -- a Forever Family for the brothers. But the Wyatt family's story didn’t end there. They continue to stay in touch, offering support to the boys and their new dad. They talk regularly, host sleepovers and remain a steady presence in the boys’ lives.

Mark and Amy are remarkable examples of patience, empathy and enduring commitment. But stories like this don’t happen alone -- it truly takes a village to help a child heal.
