At Boys Town Nevada, we believe that every child deserves a safe and nurturing environment. April is Child Abuse Prevention Month, a time to raise awareness and take action to protect children from abuse and neglect. Child abuse is a critical issue that has sadly impacted many families across America. In the United States, at least one in seven children experienced child abuse or neglect in the past year. The impact of child abuse can be devastating, leading to long-term physical, emotional, and psychological problems.
Our organization commits countless hours to preventing child abuse through an array of programs. “In Clark County, a staggering 30,000 child abuse referrals were made between July 2023 and June 2024. Of these, a shocking 3,212 cases were substantiated,” states Caitlin Stapley, Boys Town Nevada’s Program Director, “This grim reality underscores the urgent need for our community to come together to protect our children. At Boys Town Nevada, we believe every child deserves to grow up in a safe and loving environment. Our dedicated staff work tirelessly in schools, communities, and homes to provide the support, training, and education needed to create a brighter future for children.” An example of this work would be the effors made through the free parenting classes provided through Boys Town Nevada. “Our Parenting for School Success program offers an accessible and free resource for parents and caregivers in Las Vegas. This program provides innovative, non-violent strategies to address children's behaviors proactively,” Caitlin explains, “The classes cover various interventions designed to enhance positive communication and reduce conflict, ultimately decreasing stress and the likelihood of physical discipline. Parents who complete the program report a significant improvement in their ability to manage challenging situations calmly and effectively.”
We are thrilled to dedicate the month of April to spreading the message of prevention and providing resources to support families in our community. To amplify our efforts, we are excited to announce a special Donor Match Program with The Helms Helps Foundation for all new donors in April! Thanks to the generosity of The Helms Helps Foundation, every donation made by new donors this month will be matched up to $20,000. This means your contribution will have double the impact, helping us reach even more children and families in need across Southern Nevada. Your support enables us to provide essential services such as counseling, family support, and educational programs that empower families and create safer environments for children. Together, we can make a significant difference in the lives of those who need it most.
Join us in our mission to prevent child abuse and support families. Your donation, no matter the size, will help us continue our vital work and ensure a brighter future for children in our community.
