Boys Town Announces the Retirement of National Executive Director, Father Steven Boes
Boys Town, Neb. – Boys Town announces that after 18 years of unwavering service, Father Steven Boes has decided to retire as the National Executive Director and President. Father Boes came to Boys Town in 2005 to lead the mission started by Father Edward Flanagan over 105 years ago. During his time at Boys Town, Father Boes has played a crucial role in helping to advocate for systemic change, providing solutions to the broken child welfare system, increasing access to quality health care and advocating for youth across the world.
Under Father Boes’ leadership, Boys Town has expanded implementation of its unique Integrated Continuum of Care across America, increased its role in advocating change in the current child-care system and has grown the number of children and families served in the youth care and health care services by more than 60%.
“Together, we honor Father Boes legacy and contributions to Boys Town and know his next chapter will undoubtedly create a positive impact for those he will be serving in the future,” said Kathleen Driscoll, Boys Town’s National Board of Trustee Chair.
The timing of Father Boes’ announcement coincides with the recent building and opening of the new Boys Town Education Center. “I really wanted to see our Boys Town kids walk
around in their new school before I retired,” said Father Steven Boes.
Father Boes is a priest of the Archdiocese of Omaha and will continue his pastoral work there after leaving his ministry of Pastor of Immaculate Conception Church at Boys Town. “We are thankful for the service Father has given Boys Town both as Executive Director and as pastor of Dowd Chapel”, said Archbishop George Lucas. `
Under the leadership of Rod Kempkes, Boys Town’s CEO, a national search will begin immediately to find the new Spiritual Leader of Boys Town as directed by Boys Town’s National Board of Trustees and in collaboration with the Archdiocese of Omaha.
