Offering a learning facility that will serve youth of all ages, from elementary grades through high school, the Boys Town Education Center celebrated its grand opening ribbon-cutting on August 3, 2023, with numerous dignitaries, staff and students in attendance.
The new Education Center will create:
- An environment that enables challenged youth an accelerated path to graduation.
- A space where education training services can continue with cutting-edge innovation to bring to schools nationwide.
- A state-of-the-art facility to attract and retain the best and brightest faculty members.
- A modern space that will better prepare kids for advanced education and positive contributions to society.
Boys Town CEO Rod Kempkes told those attending the event that the new Education Center was built with the hope it would change the lives of Boys Town youth.
“Our new Education Center, with its cutting-edge science labs, innovative technology and welcoming learning environments, will help our students receive a quality education that will change their lives, the lives of their families and the futures of their communities," Kempkes said.
Boys Town Superintendent of Schools, Lindsay Meier, echoed Kempkes' remarks and emphasized how excited she is for the students.
“This Education Center reaffirms Boys Town's commitment to ensuring that all our young people receive fair and equal educational opportunities, where mental, social and emotional well-being are addressed to create a safe and positive learning environment for our kids," Meier said.
Jafar, a senior at Boys Town who was elected Mayor this past spring, said good-naturedly that while students sometimes regret the end of summer and beginning of the school year, he thinks this year is different.
“We are actually excited for the first day of school this year!" he said with a smile. “All kidding aside, we truly are grateful for this awesome new Education Center. It is a wonderful addition to our campus and will be so beneficial to the current and future students at Boys Town."
The first official day of school in the new Education Center will be August 14th.
