I was a terrible kid before I came to Boys Town.
I was kicked out of high school my junior year because I was abusing drugs and alcohol. I was always angry and felt mad at the world, frustrated that no one seemed to understand or know how to help me.
But when I came to Boys Town, that all changed.
When you’re at Boys Town, you have all the help you need to be successful in life. All you have to do is apply yourself and accept the guidance of caring people whose entire focus is on your success. People like Col. Kevin Lee, who oversaw the Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) program.
JROTC had a tremendous impact on my decision to make the military my career and on the way I lived my life. I wouldn’t be where I am today without the guidance of Col. Lee and so many others who were involved in that program.
Boys Town taught me to always be humble. I am truly grateful for my Family-Teachers® and for all the teachers at Boys Town High School who helped me become a better person.
