At Boys Town, we believe that every child deserves to be safe, supported and heard, whether it’s at home, at school, or in everyday life. That’s why we’re proud to join forces with ChildFund International to launch the U.S. version of the groundbreaking #MyFriendToo campaign.

Why It Matters Sexual abuse is one of the most devastating violations a child can experience — and yet, it often goes unreported. Research shows that when children do speak up, they’re most likely to tell a friend first. That insight drives the heart of the #MyFriendToo campaign.

A First-of-Its-Kind Resource in the U.S. Originally developed by Protect Children in Finland, the #MyFriendToo initiative is now available in the United States through the launch of www.myfriendtoous.org. This child-friendly website is the first in the nation specifically designed to help children support their peers in disclosing sexual abuse to a safe adult.

The site uses gentle, encouraging language — like a friend or older sibling might use — to guide children through what can be a frightening and confusing experience. It helps kids understand:

  • What sexual violence is
  • That abuse is never their fault
  • How to support a friend who shares that they’ve been hurt
  • How to find help from safe, trusted adults

Most importantly, it connects children and families with essential protection and restorative services.

Our Role at Boys Town

As a long-standing leader in child and family care, Boys Town is honored to contribute our expertise to this campaign. We’re committed to helping children not only recover from trauma but also feel empowered to speak up and get the help they need. Our Mission at Boys Town is to change the way America cares for children and families.

Through our Boys Town National Hotline, available 24/7, we provide crisis support to children and families nationwide. Whether you are a young person looking for help, or a friend trying to support someone you care about, we are here for you.

Need Help? You Are Not Alone. Sexual violence is NEVER a child’s fault. If you or someone you know has been impacted by abuse or exploitation:

  • Call the Boys Town National Hotline at 800-448-3000
  • Or text VOICE to 20121 to speak with one of our trained, licensed counselors.

Together, we can build a future where every child knows their rights, feels safe speaking out and receives the support they deserve. Because when a child says, “My friend, too,” we must be ready to listen — and take action.
