There’s a new chapter unfolding at the Village of Boys Town—and it’s one filled with hope, heart and the inspiring voices of our youth.

On May 9, Boys Town elected its 125th Mayor, Evan of Los Angeles, California. Alongside him, Boomie of Miami, Florida, was elected Vice Mayor. Together, these student leaders are ready to carry forward the values of compassion, character and community that have defined Boys Town for more than a century.

Evan, 17, captured the spirit of the Village with his campaign slogan, “I may be heavy, but I am still your brother,” a heartfelt twist on Boys Town’s iconic motto. “I want people to feel like they can still come to me and talk even when stuff is going on that is heavier than normal,” he said. “I want them to know that they can trust me to fight for them and always be there to help.”

As a proud member of the football, wrestling and track teams, Peer Ministry and JROTC, Evan brings leadership, strength and empathy to every corner of campus life. He dreams of becoming a welder, building a future that includes a loving family of his own. With the support of his Family-Teachers, Nicole and Jerel Kyles, he’s already laying the foundation.

Vice Mayor Boomie is also no stranger to hard work and heart. A fellow three-sport athlete, Boomie has her eyes set on a college track scholarship and a nursing career. Her goal as Vice Mayor is to be a voice for her peers. “I want to listen to what students are feeling and bring those thoughts to administration so we can grow together,” she said. Guided by Family-Teachers Mike and Jenna Dorton, Boomie is a shining example of courage and care in action.

Please join us in congratulating Evan and Boomie as they step into their new roles! We are proud of their example and excited for what’s ahead for them and those they represent at Boys Town.
