Tom Lynch, Boys Town's Director of Community Programs, recently received a Lifetime Achievement Award for God and Country from the Ancient Order of Hibernians, Father Flanagan Division. The Ancient Order of Hibernians is America's oldest Irish Catholic fraternal organization that aids new Irish citizens both socially and economically, when they arrive in the United States. In addition, the Hibernians work to ensure that Irish culture, including art, dance, music and sports are fostered and preserved.

Lynch, a fourth-generation member of the organization, was recognized for his work to further the Hibernian's mission in our community. In his acceptance remarks, Lynch thanked the organization for the honor and shared, “I grew up understanding the importance of the Irish culture and the need to ensure that our heritage is preserved. The Hibernians strive to do good work here in the Omaha area. Being a part of the effort at Boys Town to preserve Father Flanagan's memory and assisting with his canonization also has helped the Hibernians going forward in demonstrating the importance we have to American culture. I am sincerely grateful for this very special award." Congratulations to Tom Lynch!
